Sorry, I don't use Lightroom. In general though, Lightroom isn't meant for intensive photo editing, even though you can edit in the software. If you can do everything you need in Lightroom, just stick with Lightroom. It's usually best to stick with the simplest formula

Hi Tony:
Do you have experience with lightroom? cs3 or lightroom, which work flow you think is better? Thanks

You just have to fiddle with the settings until you get a result you like. Unfortunately, the two softwares don't seem to speak the same language. I can usually get what I want, but sometimes it takes 2-3 tries.

I'm not sure if the color space makes a difference. I use Adobe RGB for everything, and convert to sRGB for web posting.

So I tried DPP. I get beautiful results. But when I bring into Photoshop, the images looks nothing like what I see in DPP.

Is there something I should be doing?
In PS I use the ProPhoto RGB space.

Hi Aengus,

Good to hear that you feel the same about DPP.

Now...if we could only have the convenience of Aperture/ Lightroom, the beautiful RAW conversions of DPP and just the basic Photoshop tools...all in one package! That would be the ultimate post-processing software!

Cheers,

Tony

Hi Tony,
I too am a new 5DII owner and must add that I too have become a fan of DPP, it does a much better job than PS for the conversion and as you say, logic says it should since its Canon software with Canon RAW but, even with my 40D and 350D I found the RAW converter in Zoombrowser (can't use with a 5DII) did a better job than PS!!
Cheers,
Aengus

Hi Tobias,

Yes. I generally save them back to the same folder if it's only a few images, or a separate folder if I'm processing a bunch, and then import those into Aperture.

Cheers,

Tony

Hi Tony,

really nice article, I will try this work flow as well.

But how do you quick-watch your fav images? Do you re-import them into aperture after saving them in PS?

Regards,
Tobias
